Version 0.4.0 - New plot segment plus the entire city of Stineford. - Eight new sex scenes. - Sex sprites added retroactively. - New sprites for Simon and Qum D'umpe. - Multiple additions to prior sections, including two short sex scenes and some affection choices. This next update is a little different from the others. It's the next logical piece of the game, but it's not a complete chapter story-wise. Please don't think this is a half-assed update, though: the number of maps in the game has doubled and sex scenes have increased by 185%. I worked really hard, it's just that the next part of the game gets a little broader. Stineford is a big city with multiple key characters and a bunch of different quests (many optional). There was no way I could finish that many different things. Instead I opted to give you a basically complete city that's lacking some of its quests. Here's how it will work: whenever you find a quest that can't be completed yet, you'll get a note about that, but the quest flag is still tripped. So when the next update comes, you should be able to pick up where you left off easily. (But keep backup saves just in case something absolutely needs to be changed for some reason.) For example, you can meet characters that tell you to go do something in the mine outside the city, but the mine's exit is closed because there's nothing inside. Next update you'll be able to waltz inside and do the quest. Right now you can't meet the requirements to advance to the next chapter, but you have a segment of plot, a lot of places to explore, and several quests that can be completed. You'll also see hints of the background labor that took up a bunch of my time, specifically the new relationship and army systems. They aren't too dramatic now, but I had to figure out the whole thing in order to implement them properly. Note to people editing: I wanted Stineford to contain a lot of equipment that you'd have to save up to afford. My intention for game balance was that players would have to get the expensive equipment a piece or two at a time.

  1. Great game, very well written and good work with all the eventing. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Thank you for the game. So far I'm impressed with the story and the development of the main character. The only downside of this release (as opposed to 0.3.1 is that I'm unsure if I had done all the available quests or not).

Do you have an e-mail account associated to this game? I'm stuck in the slums of Stineford and I found a bit tiresome to register in just another forum...

  3. Found a bug where if you decide to whore out Qum D'umpe it says that you get 5000 Sx, but it doesn't actually give you anything. Same thing is true for the 5000 you're supposed to get for helping the maid and talking to Orcent after he's "kidnapped" her.

    1. Return to the Blue Rose and those amounts should appear in your collected funds. ^^

  4. I have to say, I wasn't expecting to have as much fun as I did. I found your game on badkittygames.com after being personally let down by the Harem collector games. I'll admit those games colored my perception a bit so I didn't see the twist coming, but I loved it! Got tired of the parody "bad good guy" satire and thoroughly enjoyed having a main character I could actually like. Not to mention the combat is balanced and rewards clever use of special moves/magic.The world is well detailed based on the information given to us and the rest of the character cast is well fleshed out (badum tish) and fun...even Qum D'umpe. (I'll admit, the moment you bring her along as a party member got a good-natured facepalm out of me :P ) Hell, I've played "completed" games that drew me in less and had less effort made into the story *cough* bioware *cough*. Keep up the good work and hope my patreon pledge helps.

    1. Thanks! There will be some developments and twists, of course, but by this point I've really put my plans on the table, so if you like it so far, that's great!

Your pledge definitely helps (hopefully I'll have some fun announcements for you all soon!) but I also really appreciate the feedback. I made this game based on the kinds of things I wanted to see after playing other adult games, so I really put a lot of effort into elements like balance. And obviously I've poured a bunch of myself into the plot, world, and characters.

Should have more for you pretty soon!

    2. Wow, thanks for the rapid response. There is one thing I'm a little nervous/curious about. In the game, we occasionally get hints as to making a choice about our direction: The 2 merchants is a good example. How much of this is magician's choice, and how much do we actually get to determine what kind of Fucklord we are?
Second, when do I get me some payback on that bomb throwing bandit babe?

Third, I really appreciate your stance on the whole "smut image" thing in adult games. I found your descriptions much more enjoyable than the pixel or outright pedophilia images some use. The images you have for the characters are well drawn or w/e the equivalent is and that lends itself well to the imagination and really needs nothing else.

4th, is the orc really supposed to be laying it on that thick? If yes, is that meant to be a satire on those who over examine their lives? If not, than it needs to be toned down a bit, as I mostly feel like whapping him upside the head Gibbs style and saying, "You're an orc, being morale doesn't mean you lose your balls!"

5th, How many of the mushrooms are supposed to be collectable in the "trap and kill twat scene" as I refer to it, because I was only able to collect 2-3 and one of those was a repeat. I ask because I could see several that were either blocked off by water or rock, or circled by trees. This bugged me a little as I am a completionist (or at least an unrepentant looter) and perhaps a different symbol might be useful in showing which ones the player can get to and those that are strictly for ambiance. Hope the wall of text doesn't scare you off and that my feedback can help. I want this project to succeed and will do what I can to back you up.

ps (realized I didn't actually reply to your reply, so I deleted my recent comment and reposted it here. also wanted to clean it up a bit.)

    3. Haha, walls of text are fine. That's what I do, after all. ^^

First: Well, the game is never going to turn into the prologue, offering really starkly different moral choices. Simon is always going to take a nuanced route, so you won't be able to choose someone like the other merchant. There will be some choices to make, though - you see some examples in Stineford and there will be a few more important ones later.

Second: On the way back from Yhilin, so... not for a while.

Third: That's great to hear, but you're in the minority on this one. I like text-based stuff, but most people really want me to add images. I can promise that I don't plan to massively change the sex scene formula, though: anything I add will be to augment the effect I'm going for, not completely alter it.

Fourth: Aww, you don't like Orcent? :P My plan for him has always been someone forced to follow a simplistic script while being heavily self-reflective. In any case, you may prefer the way I'm going with him.

Fifth: There are exactly as many collectible mushrooms as you need to get two rewards, but I forget how many (six?). Half are obtainable pre-campfire, half afterward, and one or two are pretty tricky. I'll think about changing this to make things clearer.

    4. Sweetness and pie, I sometimes forget not everyone is a writer like me and prefer less-than-novel-length comments and such :P .

1st: Fair enough, and that'll be a great story. I just wanted to know one way or the other. There was nothing I found wanting in your story, I'm still burned by bioware I guess.I think it helps that Simon is well established as a character before you get direct control of him. This allows the player/reader to get used to his personae so that the decisions Simon makes flow better in the story when the narrative leaves the player/reader control.

2nd: Thus my revenge shall be cold indeed, bwahahahahaha. She'll be well aware of the new definitions for "EXPLOSIVE orgasm" and "mind-BLOWING sex" ;) bad puns aside, I had a feeling she would be a reoccurring character and I am glad to see I was right.

I can believe that but then again, like I said, I find the character pictures to be enough to base my imagination off of. Others might need more...help I suppose. As far as trying to augment it, Overwhored does a decent job of combining both images and dialogue, so maybe an underlying image that the text will expand on. Regardless, as I said, you already are doing a great job and I am reasonably sure anything you add will be a plus.

I like him as a satire character but I had my patience for melodrama worn years ago, so I could very well be biased and thus not in a good place to judge his character. It does help he admits he is prone to melodrama, thus allowing for the chance for growth as a character.

I didn't get any rewards, so I will definitely have to play through again (oh woe, oh sorrow :D ) I'll also see if I can remove the Kail or w/e his name is gear and his elf chick too. No need to let good gear go to waste.

Another question I have is, will there be any pregnancy, oviposition, or egg laying content in the game? I recognize that this is a personal fetish and will not be disappointed if there isn't, but if there will be, that would be like having gelato after a rare prime rib steak: A sweet extra to an excellent dish.

Let me know if you'd rather continue this via email. because I just did it again with the whole, commenting instead of replying thing. gaaaah

    7. Comments are duplicating weirdly for me, so maybe switching to email is a good idea. I gave my Gmail address further up the comment thread, so use it if you want. Meanwhile...

Bioware: What are they up to now? My computer is never the greatest, so I'm generally several games behind the times.

1st: Yeah, that was one of my goals with the prologue. Set the stage, establish contrast, all that. It's turned off some people, but I'm glad most seem to appreciate what I was going for.

2nd: I'm definitely not going to just drop characters. ^^ Even minor people, like the girl in your home town or the various priestesses, will get some plot advancement eventually. Anyone with a unique profile image will definitely be showing up in a major role.

Pictures: If you like how Overwhored balances pictures/text, then everything will be fine. I'll always have more text, but if this changes it would only be somewhat in that direction as opposed to 3DCG or random images or whatever.

Pregnancy, Oviposition, and Egg Laying: Right now I have plans for pregnancy as part of a few characters' arcs. The other two I hadn't really considered for this, but I have nothing against them. If the Patreon lets me carve out some more time for game-making, I may start working on something smaller to recharge my batteries, and it would be a better bet for these kinds of fetishes.

  7. Great game! A nice twist for its genre makes it stand out from the usual games we'd bump into. On that note, I'd like to raise an issue. I've been unable to proceed with Orcent blocking my way. It's like this see, after talking to him, he steps aside, but me being me, I had left out some stragglers so I headed back to mop them up. After the battle ended, there was Orcent, standing dutifully blocking my path with all the Orcish bulk that he could muster. Please halp. T-T

    2. Oh crud. That was my only savefile. Oh welp, looks like I get to enjoy the game from the start again. Seriously spiffy good work you've done with the game, loving it so far. Looking forward to the next update. I can only imagine the amount of toil you put in to create this. All the minute complexities and details that makes a game stand out takes a lotta patience and hardwork. You just stay being awesome! I'm rooting for ya! With that can-do attitude of yours, you'll go places my friend.

    3. Thanks! If you can wait until the next update, your save file will become usable, but I'm glad you enjoy the game so much you're willing to replay. ^^
